FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
May I come to Steubenville Northwest if I'm not part of a group?
No. You must be part of a group to attend the conference. If you are over 21 years old, you may attend as a volunteer. See the Volunteer section for more information.
What constitutes a "group?"
A group is typically a parish high school youth group.
Group Leader: Adult attending the conference who serves as primary contact with the conference office before and during the conference.
Chaperone: Adult (over 21) attending with a registered group who serves as chaperone for the group's members.
Minimum ratio is 1:8 (one adult per eight youth of same gender). The weekend is challenging both physically and spiritually. It is a time of deep ministry and small group time. We recommend Chaperones feel comfortable directing, sharing, and praying with the youth.
Young Adult: Young people under the age of 21 and at least one year out of high school.
Youth: Youth participants must be entering 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grades in Fall 2019 or be a 2019 high school graduate
How do I register a group?
The Group Leader completes a group registration form online (click here). Upon submitting the form, an email will be sent confirming the registration. This email will also have links to the member registration forms, which the Group Leader will send to each of the group's members. Each group member registers him/herself. The Group Leader will have a link to a portal through which to manage, edit, and track the group members. If your group members do not have access to a computer and are unable to register online, click here for a hard copy of the youth registration form, which you may use to enter the information yourself.
Do you need to add more group members and/or options?
Log into your portal and click the green button "Click here to register more spots or add more options." Only enter the additional spots, not the total. You will then receive another email confirming the addition.
When is the deposit due? Is it refundable?
A deposit of $50 per person registered is to be paid within two weeks of registering your group, but absolutely no later than May 31st. If you add group members, corresponding deposits should be mailed right away. Deposits are not refundable nor transferable to another group.
What if someone drops out of my group?
You may replace that person (via the portal) as long as the deposit has been paid for that spot. After housing has been assigned, you will be limited to substituting a person of the same gender and role.
What paperwork and forms are required?
Each participant (group member) is required to complete a liability form. The link to the form will be provided by the Group Leader, and is specific to that group. Additionally, all YOUNG ADULT and ADULT must read and sign a Code of Conduct. The Group Leader must turn in all Codes of Conduct as well as the Verification Form at conference check-in.
Where will we stay?
Gonzaga University dorms, double occupancy rooms. If your group has an uneven number of participants, one will be housed with an individual from another group with an uneven number. Only two people per two-bed room -- no exceptions. We are limited to 700 beds at GU, and are expecting 1300 participants, so some groups will need to make off-campus housing arrangements. (If this is the case, the registration fee is reduced to $170.) THE GROUPS WHO HAVE PAID DEPOSITS IN FULL WILL BE ASSIGNED DORMS FIRST.
